How to unlock your happiness using 6 simple tips.

The definition of happiness is different for every individual living on this planet rather it’s safe to say the definition has varied over years. A healthy life, a bubbling-over-the-edges bank balance, a loving partner, successful children, and a splendid career are the common denominations of happiness in today’s life.

No matter how close we get to our goals in life or even manage to cross them off our lists, there is this yearning for happiness, none of us can deny. What is with this emptiness we feel? Where are we lagging despite the enormous developments around us?

I strongly feel this void is our unhappiness which seems to gulp almost every achievement we make. The good news is however there for us. If you spend more time on yourself doing things you love is when you feel happy. It makes you alive when you strive for a life outside the box.

Those who have an affinity for psychology and self-development know what I’m talking about. Happiness is an emotion you feel when the world is vibrating on your frequency. Contrary to this, when our expectations aren’t met, we feel unhappy. True happiness is felt within when you’re conscious of your state and are deeply satisfied with it, with every passing moment.

How to unlock your happiness

Here are 6 ways to unlock your happiness.

1.    Be conscious, completely

If you think life is only about making money and spending it wherever you want, just to fulfill your desires, rethink your priorities if you want to unlock your happiness. What are your contributions to your community or the world in general?

You shouldn’t deliberately miss an opportunity to help others. Stick to your word and always say what you mean. Generously share your learnings as this is your way of paying back to the community. Develop an interest in reading philosophy because this will make even the mediocre things around you beautiful. Find a life partner who doesn’t solely love you for your looks.

2.   Increase your self-awareness

Your desire to unlock the missing happiness and to spend an extraordinary life lies in your self-awareness which is a department lacking concentration. You must give considerable attention to your thought process, strengths, weaknesses, and emotions. Find an answer as to why they exist and how you can nourish or fix them.

When you become more self-aware, you get more focused on improving your weaknesses and turning them into your strengths.

Develop a plan that will help you connect with your inner self on a deeper level. Your engagement will give you a clear perspective of the things you love and enjoy the most.

3.   Be practical

Your life should be practical and useful for others but not with an idealistic approach. We can’t sustain if we stay unrealistic or theoretical. Think about the positive changes you can make for others and how you can exercise your influence. Set your priorities straight because there will be a million things to do but, it’s not necessary to do everything. Use your options wisely because when you decide to do something, you’re exhausting your prospects by not doing anything else.

4.   Get physically active

Despite having all that you want in life, the void isn’t filling, then you need to glance at your health.

Make the best out of it by exercising enough every day because getting physically active will optimize your health. This will also impact your mood and emotions.

Lack of focus, energy, and motivation can make you feel sluggish and hard to move through the day. Moderate physical activity can be good for you because the aforementioned signs are imminent red flags.

Your body is designed to stay active which leads to good sleep, improved focus, better mood, improved energy levels, enhanced health, and thus longevity. This automatically translates to overall happy life.

5.   Practice gratitude

The foundation of your happiness lies in a gratitude mindset. You should have an appreciation for yourself and your existence. Learn to appreciate yourself instead of nitpicking the setbacks or feeling self-pity.

The truth lies in the fact that gratitude opens avenues for further blessings to enter your life. The science behind this is also fascinating. Gratitude reduces the harmful and toxic feelings in your body such as fear, anxiety, jealousy, regret, and fear. When these negative emotions leave your life, there’s so much space for happiness to stay.

Gratitude also eliminates past emotions related to trauma because you intentionally train your mind to focus more on things that we have control over, instead of adhering to situations that we cannot control.

This feeling of gratitude should not just be for the hale and hearty days because true gratitude is felt for the rainy days as well. After all, tough times don’t last, tough people do and it is gratitude that makes you happy even when the storm is knocking you out.

6.   Make yourself interesting

No one has control over how life unfolds for them, but we do have the power to change our response to them. For example, we can have a wide range of interests. If you are a professional banker, then your interests shouldn’t necessarily resonate with banking only because this will make you boring to other people. Engage yourself in multiple things and develop a curiosity to learn more than your specialized field.

People love to talk about themselves, so when you have variable interests, you’ll have a bunch of topics to discuss with them. When people like your company, you will unconsciously become a happier person. Isn’t that what we are looking for?

Final word

The road to unlocking your happiness isn’t as difficult as you might have earlier perceived. All you have to worry about is keeping your mind open and welcoming all avenues that lead to your happiness. Don’t stop working on yourself. Stay patient and consistent and put in all the hard work that is needed for making things work your way. These steps may help you achieve more than you desire.
